The Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation between the Municipal District of Prague 6 and the 14th Vienna District of Penzing was signed in 2008. The cooperation is primarily oriented on culture, the environment, and transport.
Penzing is situated in the west of Vienna and has a population of 85,000. It is the fourth largest district of Vienna and its greenery and park zones make up 62% of its total area. Although there are no major production plants in Penzing, it is of great importance for the transport: the so-called Western Railway to Linz and Salzburg leads through the district, as well as the S-Bahn railway and U-Bahn metro lines, and the West Autobahn A1 motorway ends here.
Art Nouveau painter Gustav Klimt (1862 – 1925), "Beautiful Era" architect Otto Wagner (1841 – 1918) and architect Ernst Plischke (1903 – 1992) lived in Penzing. The Embassy of the Czech Republic may also be found in Penzing.
