The Memorandum of Friendship and Cooperation between the Municipal District of Prague 6 and the north Italian spa town was signed in 2005. The cooperation is intensive mainly in the area of education, culture, and tourism.
The small town with 3,000 inhabitants is nestled in a valley in the southern Alps, surrounded by mountains that protect it from cold winds. The site is rich in ferrous curative springs. Since the temperatures do not reach unbearable values in the summer, the area, which is free of all types of pollution, is an ideal place for active tourism. Vast chestnut groves, forests and meadows invite for cycling trips, horse riding, or hiking. The possibility of enjoying the local spa further enhances the attractiveness of the town. The area is known for apple growing, cheese production and especially for the processing of edible chestnuts. Every year, the "Chestnut Festival" is held during the last weekend in October as a tribute to the fruit that saved the region from famine in the Middle Ages.
